St Augustine Day Two

Good morning!! Ed, Willow and I got up early and took a walk to the beach to catch the sunrise it was beautiful.
Saw a oak tree in town that was 350 yrs old it was massive. Huge oak trees with moss line many of the streets. The moss is an air plant and even grows on the telephone wires.
Later in the morning we went into town to the Lightener museum. Lightener bought this place to display his collectibles. There is a little bit of everything including Tiffany glass, toys, musical instruments from the 1800. The building is amazing inside and out. It  is one of the first cement buildings in St Augustine.
This is the grand ballroom of the lightener building . There is a marble steam room the size of my downstairs. At one time the second floor of the building was a clinic (1800). After a little shopping which I acquired a new necklace we returned to the campground went swimming and rested up for the evening.
We had dinner at OC Whites. We had been looking forward to it all day. We didn't eat all day, the dinner was not very good.  But then we took an evening ride on a schooner.
Schooner Freedom was  awesome!!! So far my favorite part of the trip. We did a sunset cruise. Can't say enough about it
St Augustine has a historical bridge that leads into the middle of town. Because it has been declared historical it must remain the same height. This is the draw bridge opening for us to go through. now mind you all traffic comes to a stand still when this happens and it happens couple times a hour depending on boat traffic. Car traffic backs up all the way to the middle of town and causes a huge traffic jam.
The crew on the boat was a captain and two assistants. Both of the kids were collage graduates but preferred working on the boat. Their faces were pure joy when talking about sailing and the work they do.
Sunset from the boat. The cross in the back ground is the mission. The first stone fort is located in St Augustine.

This morning we took a bike ride to the light house built in 1800. We climbed to the top walked out on that little ledge and took pictures. So for those of you who know me well know that I have a severe fear of heights. But it was well worth the climb of over 250 steps to the top.
This is a view of the city and bay from the top of the lighthouse.
We have spent the afternoon relaxing now that I am finished with this I am going swimming. The plan for the evening is to feed the animals then ride our bikes to the beach for dinner. We have had a wonderful time here. Both of us have fallen in love with St Augustine. It is a wonderful city with lots to offer. Tomorrow we head toward Washington DC. SLOWLY!!! Till next time
